2021 to Present Initiatives
Software Development Project
We have been working on a software project since Q3 2020. We focus on providing a real software development environment. We have full product and engineering teams: Frontend, Backend, QA, UX Design, Product, and Project Management. This is a great way for members to gain more experience, learn new skills, contribute to a team, and network.
Attrition equals success! To date, 99 people have held roles on the project, of which at least 30 have been hired, changed jobs, or received a promotion related to working on the project. We love seeing team members take their next steps on their professional journey and as they leave the team, this allows for others to join. Onboarding to Women Who Code and our Chapter Tools project happens with every new member joining the project.
2020 Initiative
Launch a Software Development Project
We pitched an idea to launch a software development project that would provide a learning environment for women and diverse individuals to gain experience on real software and product teams, what we call our Chapter Tools project.
Built Product and Engineering teams: Product Management, Project Management, UX Design, Front-end Engineering, Back-end Enjineering, and QA Engineering.
Collaborated with teams to choose development a technical stack, platform, source control and product management tools.
2019 Initiative
Build Host Management Team
Formed the Host Management team. This team collaborates with tech companies in Silicon Valley to organize and host a variety of events.
